Roots
La Font de la Figuera is a small town in the southwest of the province of Valencia. A Mediterranean village dedicated to agriculture. In this place, we have been producing wine for thousands of years, and currently, the vineyard represents the most important cultivation.
Our landscape consists of an extensive and fertile valley, surrounded by tall mountains whose slopes are adorned with beautiful terraced fields held together by stone walls.
These ancient terraces were cultivated by farmers for almost a thousand years, and not too long ago, with the boom of bulk wine, vineyards replaced cereal crops as the most profitable cultivation, taking over the fertile soils of the valley.
It was then, when those precious plots on the mountain slopes were abandoned and gradually reclaimed by nature.
Now is the time to take up the legacy of our ancestors in old vineyards but also to replant vines in those ancient plots abandoned over half a century ago and almost reclaimed by nature.
In essence, it's about illuminating those places again that always yielded the finest wines of the region.
And indeed, great wines are those capable of displaying identity: wines that speak of the land they come from, the traditions of the place, the characteristics of the vintage, and even reflect the hand of the person who has worked with passion, first in the vineyard and later in the winery, to craft it.
These are wines that defend their territory; they enable more dignified wages for the people who work in it, promote higher grape prices, and help preserve the traditional landscapes of the area. They also attract quality tourism to the villages where they originate, creating synergies with restaurants, commerce, and more.
